Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

Was sent a text message by unknown number addressing me as MS513890, saying from a person name Mark Ronald. Said I had submitted info via SMS about being interested in working as WHOLE FOODS. Said my first assignment would be sent via USPS. Received a letter and check for $1950 from a credit union based out of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Requested I text them back when I received it and when I would be doing the assignment, offered me a bonus for completing it within 6-12 hours. When I emailed them to ask if the check was legal they replied back everything was legal and reminded me complete the assignment on the "letters" so they could activate my bonus. When I Googled the fact I was sent a check for buying gift cards, as well as when I emailed the scam email address asking if I could go to multiple stores, I didn’t hear back. Seeing at the link below that another scam had been traced back to Baton Rouge, LA <span title="https://www.ksla.com/2019/08/13/new-scam-hires-you-be-secret-shopper-aims-steal-money-you/

I decided this was fake and emailed the person back the link above and told them to not contact me or I would report them.
