Two men from Northern Home Satellite came to our door in March 2019 and eventually coerced us into buying, what we were told, was a "bundle" of services, including cable, internet & phone. We told them we were happy with our current services and didn’t want to switch, but they promised many things, including, but not limited to, faster internet and lower monthly bills. We are not tech-savvy at all and didn’t understand much of what they were talking about, which we told them. The salesman was a fast-talker and used distraction techniques when we were trying to question them. We expressed many concerns during the sales "pitch", including, but not limited to the need for Social Security numbers and other information they were trying to glean from us. None of our questions were answered. When the installer came, it took him 7.5 hours and he couldn’t answer any questions we had either – he didn’t even know how to program or use the remote. At that point, on April 5, 2019, less than 24 hours after installation, we began the quest to have the newly installed services cancelled and the equipment uninstalled. We tried to call the salesman, but the number on the card he left us was not working (or he blocked us). We called their office numerous times and no-one ever answered; instead we got voice mail and left messages that were not returned. Somehow, Dish and Viasat got our account info. and began taking money from our account, but we never gave this information nor did we authorize these withdrawals. Northern Home Satellite lied to us about everything! Nothing they promised was true. We were unhappy with them from the very beginning and tried to cancel all services immediately. All anyone did was send more tech people out to our house and prolong the problems. We have had numerous visits by tech people, but our issue is not resolved. We did get out former equipment and services reinstalled, but Dish & Viasat are still taking money from us for services we never knowingly authorized. (And again, we tried to cancel such services within 24 hours of installment.) As senior citizens with no knowledge of technology, we were duped. No-one will help us and we are now hundreds of dollars in the red in our account, with weeks before we get paid. This is causing a number of serious financial problems as well as health issues due to the stress.
