Type of a scam Credit Repair/Debt Relief

This happened back in August 2017 and spoke to a man named Mike Plaia. He told me that he works for the education department and can help reduce the amount I owe in my student loans. He asked me for my FAFSA login, which meant he asked for my username, birth date, password, social security number, etc. I was very hesitant in giving this information and then he started to say something like "Oh, I know you are probably scared of identity theft. I was a victim of identity theft at one point in my life." He said that he got very sick and while he was in the hospital, his brother stole his identity. This guy also texted me pictures of himself when he was sick – very unprofessional and who knows if this is even true. I think he just said that to make me feel safe and give him my information. He also told me not to reach out to my current loan servicer as they will take care of everything. Long story short, I ended up giving them my bank information and after feeling very uncomfortable about it, I tried to cancel everything and they kept asking me why and telling me that this will save me money. I told them that my parents did not approve of this and that it must be cancelled. I was transferred to the manager, some lady (forgot her name), and she just kept trying to push me when I didn’t want anything to do with them anymore. She finally said she would cancel it, but I really didn’t trust them and so the next day, I went to the bank and cancelled all of my accounts and got new accounts so that they couldn’t charge me anything. I also signed up with LifeLock to monitor my accounts to see if they set up any fraudulent accounts in my name. I never heard back from them after that day. But this is totally a scam.
