I was looking to purchase a Siamese cat. I found the website and contacted them via email. They sent an email back providing information and asking me about myself because they wanted to make sure the kitten was going to a good home. I provided information and they told me that they thought I was a good fit. They asked if my bank was connected to some link they provide but it wasn’t. So they told me I would have to use an American Express gift card to pay which I did raise a red flag for me but I have a lot going on right now and wasn’t thinking so clearly. After payment they said they would ship the kitten but then I did more research and something didn’t sit right. I found a page that reported the website as a scam so I knew I lost out on 750 dollars. I contacted them telling them I knew it was a scams but they kept denying it. They sent me a like for tracking and even that looked kind of legit but I knew it was fake. Shortly after the delivery company said they needed money to put the kitten in a different carrier! I knew it wasn’t real and it was all a scam. I told them I would report them to the authorities and make sure others knew what scam they were pulling!!
Started to see some red flags after emailing back and forth and decided to go with my gut. I researched pet scams and found a lot of similar stories. The emails were full of broken English and errors (such as “puppies” instead of “kittens”). When I asked if we could schedule a phone call to talk over some of the details they mentioned being hard of hearing. Of course I want to give everyone the benefit of the doubt, so I decided to research more. What did it for me was copying and pasting the testimonials from the website onto google and finding the same one on multiple other sites. Thankful I didn’t give out more personal info or start the payments.
