I received a warning on my computer (suppose to be Microsoft) stating my computer had been infected and that I needed to upgrade my security. They offered several plans (5-7 years). They took control of my computer for the upgrade. Sent me an invoice regarding the service that I had purchased. Service was made for by check scanned from computer. Three weeks later a message was left on my answering machine stating that they needed to refund my check because the department has been ordered to close (knew then that it was a scam.)
Received several calls left on answering machine. Finely returned their call. They stated that they needed me to be in front of my computer to be able to receive the refund. We went back and forth regarding me be in front of the computer – so he finally says Ms. we will mail your refund to you. I said "you don’t have my name or address how are you sending me a check." He stated that – that was why he needs me to be at my computer. I told him I have a customer ID# that they issued and stated that we should use this number when we call.
