Pop-up when logging in said we had a virus; to call 888-660-1755 for Microsoft to correct the problem. Agent said we needed Windows Defender to clear the threat. Reverse Look-Up told us the agent’s number 650-300-1575 belonged to Telekenex. The agent said that Telekenex was a service rep for Microsoft. Agent said she was taking us to Microsoft Store to buy Windows Defender and we could use it on all systems for life, but no refunds. We wrote an on-line check for $662.49 for Windows Defender to Microople, Inc. Agent downloaded to our laptop. However, the Invoice sent to us via attachment to an e-mail: Microople, Inc./548 Market Street/San Francisco, CA 94104 for Defender Security. We contacted Microsoft this morning and were told that the download was not a Microsoft product so we had it removed. None of the virus "scare" came from Microsoft. This was a misrepresentation from beginning to end.
