Responded to FB post for dryer vent/air duct cleaning service, US Duct Care on 30Sep and made appointment for 10am on 9Oct. Ryan Himstedt showed up 4:45pm on 9Oct and claimed we had mold, needed to replace air ducts, install vapor barrier and UV lights. He said he would spray the mold that night and return 9am on 13Oct to do the recommended services. He required 50% deposit ($2125 paid via paypal to "his wife" [email protected]) Our HVAC system did not work after he left; called a verified local HVAC company 10Oct to inspect; found damage to system that was repaired (parts disconnected, slits cut into duct work). HVAC company also stated duct work did not need to be replaced and there was not a mold issue under our home.

Learned online that Ryan Himstedt and Jonathan Tager run a duct cleaning business using multiple names: SE Air Quality Experts, US Duct Care, Southeast Air Care, Southeast Home Pros, Southern Duct Systems, etc and have history in NC of a scam duct cleaning business. ScamPulse.com complaints filed in Greensboro and local news channels.

Would like to see this "business" shut down – warn others not to use them.

  1. We just fell victim to this scam, as well. Ryan came out, looked over our duct work and gave us an estimate for the work needed. He quoted us $2,100 to replace 9 ducts, clean the whole unit and all the mold out, add a UV Coil light to our system, etc. He asked for half down, to secure the needed materials. He had us make the check out to him, and he cashed it immediately after he left our house. The worker he was sending to do the actual work was supposed to be here at 10:30am, and didn’t show up until 2 hours later. Ryan said the whole job would take about 4 hours, with one or two workers doing the job. This single worker (Daniel Bledsoe) was up in our attic for less than 2 hours. It looked like heay have replaced the ductwork, but the extensive list of other things we paid to have done were not done. We stopped payment on the second check and called both Ryan (who did not answer the call and his mailbox is full) and Daniel to have someone explain to my VERY IRATE husband what is going on here! We are now out $1,050 (and possibly the second $1,050 if they managed to cash the check before we were able to get the stop payment processed), and we still have massive amounts of mold, accumulated water, and blocked up vents. We hired them to do a job, they took our money, lied to our faces, and stole from us.
