They called and said "Can you hear me?" My answer was, um ya but I’m at work and shouldn’t take this call. And then they hung up on me. I am wondering if I may have agreed to something else with my um ya answer?

This person called and had said they were calling about a job a applied for. I was confused because I had recently applied for an internship and was unsure if that is what they were referring to. The woman asked if I was able to hear her and without thinking I replied “yep.” She immediately hung up and I began to wonder if I was just scammed. I have heard of people like this trying to get the victim to say yes and then hanging up. I believe this person was trying to record my response so they can steal some of my information or make unauthorized charges.

I have been receiving a phone call form Plains, VA and normally would ignore it because they would say on their message that they are trying to delivery my pain meds and needed to talk with me. I called back and told them to take me off of their call list but continued to receive the messages and they will call at least 10 times a day so today I answered and she said her name was Melissa and we were on a recorded line and asked if I could hear her. I said yes and she hung up and that is when I called it in to the BBB. They then told me to notify the Federal Trade Commission when the Government opens back up and report it to them also. BBB said it is a scam for voice recognition.

I said ‘yes’ – immediately after I spoke, I remembered this was a scam I’d heard about long ago in the news. I don’t know what will happen from here on out – I will need to keep a close eye on my bank and credit card statements.

Received a call from 757-252-1448 on 7/16/18 at 11:59 am EDT. Caller said this call was being recorded for training purposes and he was James from the Mortgage Center. He asked if I could hear him and I said yes. He then hung up. It then dawned on me that he was recording me to get me to say yes and I fell for his scam. I am unsure how this will affect me and I do not know what to do next. I knew better to say yes, but I was rushing out of the door for a Dr.’s appointment.

On February 6, 2017, I received a phone call on my cell phone. The number I received the call from is 614-305-7791. The caller said, "Can you hear me?" I said yes. Then, when I realized what I had done, the line just disconnected. I suddenly realized that this was a scam. There are scammers doing this After the person says, "yes" to their question, they begin getting things, demanding payment. I am told that this scam happens because, like me, the answer yes is on their file. All the information I have to offer is the 614 number I listed. Please note this 614 number in you systems as a scam number and let me know if you find out any further information on this particular scam. Thank you

Caller asked "can you hear me?" upon answering in an attempt to get the victim to say "yes" to record for future money theft or to use to charge things in the victims name. That is what I believe was the reason for the call because of an article posted on the news describing the exact call I received. The call was a recording of a woman saying that the victim won a free stay at a resort and a cruise. I can’t remember what I may have said at the beginning of the call because at the time I was not aware of the scam. After realizing it was a scam I hung up the phone without saying anything.

Type of a scam Phishing

2017-01-30, 7:54 p.m. Received call from (928) 433-4997 with Caller ID showing "Flagstaff AZ." The call was a recording, but the recorded script pretended to be a live person, saying something to the effect of "oh, I dropped my headset" or "sorry; I was having trouble with my headset" and at some point during that initial greeting asked if she could be heard. It was not initially evident that it was a recording; the recorded ‘caller’ was speaking so quickly that there was no polite opportunity to interrupt and it was about 20 seconds into the call before it was clear that it was a recording. The pitch of the ‘caller’ was that because I supposedly had purchased their products in the past, I was now eligible for this new fantastic offer, etc., etc. I hung up as soon as I realized it was a recording, but I believe that at the very beginning of the call I was asked if I could hear and I probably answered "yes" before I realized it was not a liver person. I assume that the entire purpose of the call was to get a voice recording of me saying the one word "yes."

Person pretended not to be able to hear me and I’m uncertain if I said "Yes". I believe I just said hello a couple times and then hung up when they started their script about a cheap cruise.

I received a call today and the person said, can you hear me? I said yes and they hung up. I had just heard about these calls, but it was so fast that I said yes anyway.

Called and said "Hi, I’m John. Can you hear me?" I was caught of guard and responded yes. Right after I responded the the caller switched to an automated recording attempting to sell something.
