Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

Placed an ad to sell a used snowboard on KSL.com Classifieds. Listed the sales price as $250. i was contacted via text message by "Lamar Howell" that he wanted to buy the snowboard expressing he was very interested in purchasing this particular brand. "Lamar" indicated that he would overnight a cashier’s check for $300 if the ad could be withdrawn from KSL.com. Once the funds were received he would send a "pick-up" service to get the snowboard in that he lived out of state. UPS delivered a package today (Oct-11th) Tracking# 1ZX1V6720142069088 from a destination of Darman Manufacturing located at 4915 21st Street, Racine, WI 53406 and a phone # 302-314-3152. No such entity exists with this address. "Lamar" sent a check (Not a Cashier’s Check) from an entity called Freightliner Of St. Cloud located at 25200 Augusta Drive, St. Cloud, MN 56301. This check with drawn on a Bremer Bank, N.A. located at 8555 Eagle Point Blvd., Ste. 110, Lake Elmo, MN 55042. Routing Number 096010415. Both addresses for Freightliner ad Bremer Bank are legit as is the Routing Number for Bremer Bank. The check was in the amount of $1,700. Once received contact was made by "Lamar" to which we replied the check was in the wrong amount and tender form to which he replied to cash the check and send excess back to him with the board. Clearly a scam – his check eventually bounces and my check or cash goes deposited. We obviously declined.
