Total money lost $220

Type of a scam Online Purchase

Ordered face cream for $36 for trial and was charged $98 twice and they gave my credit card to another company that charged small fees with no products sent. I continued to call customer service to cancel, but they refused. I was hung up on and money never returned.

I saw a news article that was at least marketed as an Entertrainment today that was about Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. It alluded that one of the reasons they were getting divorced was because of her new Skin Care line, Le Allure. They were offering a free trial where you pay only shipping. It linked to the website I listed. I checked the website to ensure there was no recurring charges, and signed up. I then went to see if I could find more information on Angelina’s new line and oddly enough there was NOTHING about it anywhere on the internet. I then looked into it further and found complaints from others saying they had done the same thing and 2 weeks later were charged $98 for each product and when they called the company to cancel they refused, and hung up on them. I myself then tried to cancel the entire thing, free trial included. I called and they started asking for my credit card number in odd increments.. last 4, first 6, then I told them I wasn’t giving them any additional numbers. They said they then would not cancel my account and hung up on me. I was forced to cancel my credit card to avoid additional charges. Turns out upon further inspection their site did have something indicating there would be recurring charges, in a VERY tiny print "terms and conditions" button, in a very light gray color you literally could barely see. this was at the very botton of the site. Truth I should have known better, but the article was very clever in convincing me of it’s legitimacy. I can only imagine how many people must be tricked into this and end up with hundreds of dollars in charges.
