Type of a scam Phishing

The scammer posed as someone who’s interested to purchase your car. The following is their solicitation text messages:

"Sorry, my phone has awful reception today and keeps dropping calls, the reason I was calling is that I’m interested in your vehicle. "

When you try to call them, they answer

"now isnt the best time for me to talk on on phone, ok if we text?"

"what are the miles and the asking price for your car?"

then after you text them back…they text

"The vehicle looks great in the add but I just wanted to clear a few things before I decide on buying and setting up a test drive"

"would you mind getting me a background check on the car from …. tap to load preview…

"This report was recommended to me by brother who’s a car dealer – it just shows if there are any major accidents and if the title is clean.

"if you can email me that report to [email protected] I will keep an eye out for it then schedule a time to come meet you."

"I look forward to potentially buying the car after I finish off my checklist on it with that history report, Ill keep any eye out for your email. I’ve had my eye on this year/make for a while now.
