My husband received three strange calls today on his cell phone. The caller stated this is the IRS. They also called yesterday. The message stated someone has stolen or taken over your Social Security number. Someone will come to your front door and arrest you if you do not call this number back. 281-363-5694. We did not call the number back.

My husband answered a call today on our home phone from the IRS. The caller asked if we would be available today at 2:00 P.M. to take a picture with a number of people that won a check and a car. Did not give the mount of the check. My husband replied yes. I asked if I had to give money down. He said no. Just have your state ID. We do not have the phone number that called. We know if they want money it is a scam. All they wanted was our State ID. We do enter a number of contests.

Call was answered and a recording claimed that fraud was perpetrated with my Social Security Number, and to avoid "federal prosecution originating in the state of Texas by local Court or Magistrate" that I should act immediately. Then it asked if I wanted to find out more about this to push #1 on my phone. I did that and a person answered. There were sounds of a call center in the back ground and the person answered Internal Revenue Service". This is clearly a scam because it take hours on the phone to talk to anyone at the IRS office. I told him that I knew he was a scam and to never call me again. I then hung up on them.

I receive from George Penn, said he was with the IRS and my social security number was used by someone stopped on the El Paso border with drugs and they were using my social security number to wire money. I then was transferred to speak with Michelle Anderson who was with the attorney general office. She told me I would need to go to my banks and take out all funds except $200 and secure the money with the government to clear my name. And I would have to get a new social security number. They gave me a case # DC68489720 and Warrant ID WI639846.

I told him I don’t even have 400 and they have called now 2 days row and about 5 times yesterday and 2 times this morning. He was asking how close I was to getting the 700 I told him I didn’t even have a 100 he said he could wait a couple days for me to get it together. I was positive it was a scam. I received a phone call at 10:49 A.M. (Central-Standard Time) from a person claiming to be an IRS Agent named Stephen Jordan. He provided me with his Identification number, which is IRM 2215 and my case number: CP069T. He said that my taxes were being investigated from the years 2014-2016 and that there were three counts (Count 1, Count 2, Count 3) of the tax code that I had violated in the amount of $4,969.00. He informed me that the call was being recorded and that anything that I say on the phone call would and could be used against me in court. He said that there was a warrant out for my arrest, that all of my accounts were frozen, and that my wages would be garnished if I did not comply. He said that the IRS has made repeated efforts to contact me and that since I have not been able to be contacted, he was calling me directly. I informed him that I was on the IRS website and that the website specifically states that any attempts to communicate with taxpayers would be made via certified US mail. He said that if I did not immediately comply that I would be subject to the full consequences of the law. He asked me if I had completed my tax returns myself or if I have them completed by an accountant. I shared with him that I had an accountant but did not provide any sensitive information. He asked if I wanted to settle my claim and I refused, referring back the IRS website. He wished me luck and informed me that the police would be coming to get me.

It was abbreviated, but I heard IRS…criminal issue associated with your SSN …please call before it goes to the state courthouse.

Later this evening from them, so I answered. It was an Indian-sounding man who stated he was with the IRS. I asked who I was speaking to, and he said "I don’t know". You don’t know who I’m talking to? "No", then he hung up.

A recorded message states they are from the IRS and that I must make immediate contact because my SS # has been linked to criminal activity. I was given a choice to call back (a number was given) or to press 1 to speak to an "investigating agent." I received two of these calls. The first was from the 833 number, which came up as suspicious by my carrier. I just blocked the number. I knew right away it was a scam. The second call came from the 202 number. I can see how people get hooked by these crooks – the recorded message was very convincing. Even though I knew it was a scam, I pressed 1 to speak to an agent – mostly to see what they would say. The person on the other end of the line answered as "Officer" so-and-so, and had an obvious ‘English as a second language’ accent. He immediately attempted to take control of the conversation and convince me that he was really trying to help me because I was in serious trouble. That is when I ended the conversation by telling him I was reporting all of this to the FBI cyber crime unit. Officer so-and-so hung up. Again, pretty elaborate story line, and scare tactics. Don’t fall for it. The IRS does not call you PERIOD. The IRS does not call to tell you your ss# has been linked to criminal activity. They do not call. If you are linked to criminal activity in any way the police will show up at your door and arrest you with a warrant. No one calls ahead. Please don’t fall for these scams.

These scammers will first call using an automated voice saying to not hang up, this is an emergency, there is a warrant for your arrest. Then they will leave a phone number for you are to call back. When you do, a man will most likely answer and will sound legitimate. He will say you’ve called the Internal Revenue Services and will give you a "case number" and "badge number". In my personal experience, he had my maiden last name and threatened me by saying I owed the IRS $2,989 and I explained that I used H&R Block so I will contact them then. At this, he got escalated and said I was on a recorded line and that I was responsible, not anyone else. He "transferred" me to his supervisor who sounded just like him but with a slight souther twang. He proceeded to also threaten me and tell me that I had a warrant for my arrest and that if I disconnected the call 911 would call me and I would be picked up at my workplace. I told him I knew my rights and that this sounded like a scam call. He got upset at that and I hung up. literally 1 minute later I got a call and 1(911) did pop up on my caller ID. I answered and it sounded like the same man asking for me but using my maiden last name, I hung up. At this point, I was shaken up and was searching for myself online. He called a second time and I didn’t answer. I googled the IRS actual phone number called and had them verify my account and the representative also told me that, that was scam call and they have gotten reports about that same situation

She said she was investigator from the IRS and my taxes from 2016 and 2017. She asked who did my taxes. I said why do you want to know. She gave me a fake case number. He said 2 officers are coming to work. He said if you don’t want problem. Once in my car, he told me to read the numbers off the back. He said don’t hang up. He said don’t talk to nobody. He said get the money in your hand. Go to Dollar General. Then the lady said I owed more if I didn’t want to go to jail. The man said don’t go to Family dollar go to Kroger and buy a Google Play card. I went to Kroger twice, and the lady didn’t ask me anything. He said to pay another $337 for my bail and my case would be dismissed from the courthouse. I asked why, he asked me if I’ve ever been to court, I said no. He said that’s why you don’t understand. When I came back to work, my co-workers told me the IRS didn’t call me and it was a scam. They called from 614-369-4026 and 206-886-3989.

I called back and did get a real person. He claimed his name was Ben Reed and gave me several numbers to write down. He even had me repeat them back to him. He read my address to me (which is public information). He stated a police officer tried to bring the tax paper work to my home on January 10th, but no one was home. He read me an affidavit stating there were 3 counts of criminal allegations against me from the IRS. He said I could be responsible to either pay the IRS 80 thousand dollars or go to federal prison for up to 5 years. He told me I had 2 options. 1: hire an attorney and fight the claim in court or 2: resolve the matter outside of court. He told me if I chose resolution he would forward me to his superior. I hung up at that point. I’m assuming they would have asked me for over the phone payment. They told me I owed the IRS $3,871.92. After I hung up the phone he attempted to call back once and I didn’t answer.

For days now I have been receiving phone calls from the above numbers. They leave voice messages stating things like :you will be taken into custody by local cops as there are 4 serious allegations pressed on your name. We request you call us back so we can discuss the case.

I called back yesterday and got a woman who was obviously in a call room. She said I had $4000 in back taxes to pay. When I asked her to send me something on paper because I didn’t understand her she hung up.

I called the number again and got a man this time, I asked him who he was working for and he hung up. I called a third time and a man with an Indian accent picked up and just simply said ‘[censored] off! Do not [censored]g call again’.

Unbelievably they called again today with the same scam. I did not call back.

Prerecorded message: caller said they were IRS and I had not done my taxes correctly and they were sending a sheriff to my door to arrest if I did not send them money right away to prevent this from happening; The number given *** was probably a phishing scam since the number belongs to a private individual. I did not return the call to the scammers; I looked up the information.

IRS Telephone Scam – I received a threatening voicemail stating to call 908-975-0525 before my bank accounts were frozen and I was arrested. I returned the call and it was answered by a man who stated, "IRS." I was informed that I was selected at random for a tax audit, and it had been found that I intentionally defrauded the Internal Revenu Service. Because I had not responded to prior correspondence, there was a warrant out for my arrest. I was further informed that if I disconnected the call, it would "activate" something (unclear as to what that was), and that authorities would be at my house within 45 min to arrest me. I was given a case# for my audit and a warrant# for my arrest.

I received a call and a voice mail about me owing back taxes. I just got married 3 weeks ago and they had my married name and said I owed back taxes. I asked them what name the back taxes were under and they said her married name. I told her I only had this name for 3 weeks so how could I owe back taxes and she hung up on me. I also received a text message threatening me with international fraud and to call 469-982-5000. The voice mail I received wanted me to call 707-271-0156

I let the call go to voicemail while I was at work. The voicemail reported that federal agents would be after me if I did not call within a couple hours. I called back to see what was going on, IRS was repeated three times before i said can I help you? The guy asked my age, my age do you know my name I replied? Had my husbands info originally with Z’s in the spelling in random places also mine. He was able to give me an employee ID number but not accurate for IRS employees. He reported that I defrauded the government since 2013 and need to pay over 5K or they would seize everything. I did not offer any money … rather quite the opposite with other legal issues at this time. However;

I’ve been getting calls on my cell phone from the IRS. They say I’ve been chosen for a $7000 grant. They gave me an ID number. to call back. She asked me if I was married. When I call it back, it’s a NY number, and they say they are with the Grants and Treasure dept, I spoke to Ashley and she told me to check it out with ScamPulse.com as they are legit. They want me to go to Walmart and buy a $200 refundable card, and call them back. I called them back at 929-390-2338 because I was already at Walmart. Some calls it’s a guy, other times it’s a girl. All of the numbers look like they are coming from Washington DC.

Started with a ROBO call stating that I was under investigation. Most of call was not understandable. I called the number back 254-829-5136 which came up from Texas. The man sounded very garbled and hard to speak English. When I questioned his being from USA he called me a xxxxxx xxxxxx. That let me know he was a scam. I also remember the initial call said if I did not respond I would have a warrant issued by some Judge name I could not understand. Wish I could give more but I was caught off guard. Best thing I did was ask him to confirm who he is!

A person with an Eastern Indian accent calls saying they are from the IRS and you owe back taxes. They say that they’ve tried many times to reach you and this is your last chance before they have you arrested.

They are looking for you to "set up a payment" over the phone by having you give them a bank account or credit card number.

FYI– the IRS will ALWAYS contact you by REGISTERED MAIL. DO NOT fall for this pathetic scam.

I marked this as Identity Theif because I’m assuming they wanted all my info. I received 2 phone calls yesterday and don’t know if it was for me or my husband cause there was no name mentioned. It was a recording claiming the IRS was suing me or him and to return their call, which I (we) didn’t do. I had 1 call from myself a few months back, my caller ID showed that it was my phone number, when I answered no one was there?!!

Thank y’all so much I hope this info helps.

We’ve received 4 robo calls from 2 different numbers indicating we need to contact them about violations with IRS.

A Mr. Gregg called 2 times and an unnamed female’s voice left the message to call them at a different number. Since this has been on the news I knew not to call. I checked the phone numbers on Google and the blogs mentioned Mr Gregg as well. We are on the no call list so I believe we need to report the scam on the Indiana Attorney General’s site too. I know your note indicated you don’t respond but if I need to report more to the BBB,

I will.
