The caller said my electric was going to be shut off in an hour due to overdue payment. I said there was some kind of nd of mistake. He said his name was Steve Taylor and he was asking me for my bank account information. I did tell him I was with key bank but gave him no information. I was called and was told that my power was being turned off within 1/2 hour if I didn’t pay passed due bill. But I could go to family dollar, Cumberland Family to pay $505.95 that was due. I called national grid and they told me that my account was up to date. My suggestion would be to call national grid and check on account first. Didnt pay nothing.

I have received numerous automated messages from this phone number stating that my power was going to be shut off at my location. I’ve ignored the calls for a long period of time, and I’m on a do not call list. Today I decided to call the number back. The number identifies the company as national grid. I spoke to a man that could barely speak English, gave him my name, and stated that I’ve been receiving numerous phone calls he instantly put me on hold and never came back on the line. I hung up called the number back again, and heard an automated message stating all representatives were busy, and to try my call again later. I tried once more from my house phone and receive the same message. I then called them from my cell phone spoke to a representative, and ask for a manager. A manager named Larry came on the line once again I told him my name, and that I’ve been getting a lot of calls instantly I was put on hold again and no one ever came back to the line. I hung up called them again from my son’s cell phone I spoke to representative repeated the same process with the same results. I then google searched the number of national grid, and called their customer service line. I spoke to the woman at the real national grid, and she had stated they had been getting numerous phone calls with the same ordeal, and that it was a scam. I was well aware of the fact it was a scam, but there was no way of telling them to no longer call me or to opt out of calls. BEWARE of this number, and the calls.

Claimed my electric bill was passed due and they were going to shut my power off within a hour.

I needed to go to CVS or Dollar General and get a money pack card and put $498.78 on in and call them back with the PIN number 1800 994 3220 ext 1004 Brian.

I called National Grid and they do not collect passed due amounts this way.

My account was paid and no ballace was due.

We were informed by the caller that due to unpaid electric service bills, we were scheduled for shut-off in 4 hours. The caller identified our account correctly. We were instructed to call National Grid to make payment arrangements in order to avoid the shut-off. We were given the above 800 number, which is an authentic National Grid customer service contact number and is listed on their website. Our bills are on auto-pay, thus we knew something was amiss. After calling the "authentic" contact number and a rather contentious conversation, we hung up. No harm, no foul, I guess you could say. I do want to alert others to this scam, but another reason for this report is the UNACCEPTABLE response we were given by National Grid when we subsequently contacted them. They were absolutely disinterested in the information, even after speaking with a supervisor. Their response was, "We get so many of these. There is nothing we can do about it." My husband and I were employees of Rochester Gas & Electric for 29 years, and we know that is false. Thank you.

National Grid’s legitimate number was somehow used to contact me and they said my bills were 3 months past due and my electric would be turned off today. If I called 7162004348 I could stop the turn off process. I called and the automated answering system sounded legit but when I got a person to report the suspected scam and asked why the number wasn’t associated with National Grid on Google he said he didn’t know, that’s not his job. So I asked him for his office’s physical address, and at first he gave me my address. I pressed again for HIS address. Then he swore at me, calling me a vulgar name and hung up.

Person called business claiming to be from electric company stating if we didn’t install digital box we were going to have power shut off if we didn’t pay. They said they had a work order to disconnect if we didn’t pay. They spoke professional and said they were the manager. Even connected me to someone in billing to follow thru. Didn’t ask for money over phone but gave phoney address to make payment. And then once you get to the location to call them back. Claimed they sent out letters of notice of shut off if didn’t install that day. Never went to location but I was asking them more and more questions and told them it sounded like a scam, I didn’t receive any of these notices and didn’t feel comfortable with what was going on. Told them I couldn’t make decision because that is up to the owner. The more I questioned and stated this didn’t sound right they then started to repeat themselves. I asked them how long I would have till power would be shut off and they said 10 minutes of the hour notice and they said a technician was on his way and I told them they would have to shut it off then because I can’t make that decision. Never gave them any personal information about account numbers or anything. They then connected me to billing again and said they received the money which was false and then they hung up. When they put me on hold there was even elevator music on. It all sounded false from the start but came across professional.

They call and say that they are coming to disconnect gas and electric. They want payment over the phone. They are NOT the real National Grid. This is the second time this has happened in a month with them calling my phone.

A woman came to my door( suggesting) she was from National Grid and wanted me to pick a supplier so my rates would not fluctuate. She asked to see my utility bill so she could explain. She said it was for my own good that I should pick a supplier. She is obviously from some gas supply company trying to trick people into signing up for a three year contract.

The number above contacted me at my shop, told me that I have great standings on my bill pay and that I get $25 credit off my bill each month from here on out. That I need to give him my billing account number and that he will confirm my other information and he would take the money off my bills. I said I don’t have my information at the moment (nor would i ever give it out) and he told me he could wait on the line for me to get the information. I told him that I don’t have it and to call me back tomorrow, He told me tomorrow is not good and the offer would expire without giving him the information right then. I told him then I guess I miss out of that offer and told him I’m busy and had to go and hung up. I called my National Fuel provider and told them.

Caller said the call was courtesy call before electric service disconnected due to non payment. Wanted just under 500 dollars to stop disconnect in 30 minutes. I knew he was scammer and reminded him of such yet he continued. I got his whole name (probably fake) and his employee number from National Grid. Never got to payment but he wanted Western Union. Another tip to scammers. Told him call was recorded and I hung up.

they said they are national grids supplier and i qualify for a 15% bill reduction for paying my bill on time. now i know this was fake because i never pay national grid on time. they asked me to get my bill and give them my account number and that it is on the left corner. now that is a lie it is in the middle of the bill. lol. then i told them now wasn’t a good time and i would call national grid myself to get my reduction i then asked if that was possible and they said yes of course but can we do it now. I said no and hung up. so i called national grid and they said they don’t even do that. i hope this helps anyone out in the same position. #s 18605550169, 2025550109
