Type of a scam Government Grant
I received a call from a man with a very heavy accent claiming his name was XXXXX. He said he was calling from the United States Government Grant Department. He then stated that I am being issued a $9000.00 grant check that never had to be paid back. He said that he simply needed to verify my identity. He tried to begin with my name. I did not agree nor deny. He was waiting for me to respond and I instead asked him where he was calling from again and also the city and state his office is in. He quickly disconnected our phone call. My caller ID displayed the call coming from Orangetown,NY and the incoming number was 1-845-652-5949.
