Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order
I was selling my washer and dryer online (craigslist) and the scammer reached out through text. They said they wanted to buy, and would send a check above the purchase price, for me to send the difference to their movers by moneygram. This raised a lot of red flags.
The kicker was that after we didn’t hear from them for a week we sold the unit and a check arrives from the scammer. I try to return the check, they want me to go ahead and send the money and keep the amount for the washer and dryer, as a ‘transaction fee’.
