Total money lost $132.75

Type of a scam Debt Collections

I received a bill for a toll for $132.75 in January of 2020. This was the first and ONLY bill or notice I have ever received from them. I called to ask why it was so expensive, and they said that the toll was from December of 2018. They claim that they had sent 12 notices over the course of that year to my address, but this was not true. They lied about sending notices, so that they could rack up fake "late fees" and "court fees" as they told me, to ultimately send me a single enormous bill more than a year after the initial toll. On their website, it says that if you fail to pay a toll on time there will be a series of fees, even the most extreme of which only adds up to $65 total. So there is no reason why my bill could have gotten up to $132. They did not have an answer for this when I brought it up on the phone with an agent. Furthermore, they will put a hold on your car registration if you don’t pay, so they are extorting you for money knowing that you have no choice. If you don’t pay, you cannot re-register your car, and then you risk all of the penalties associated with expired car tags. My registration is expiring and I cannot afford a ticket for driving with expired tags, so I had no choice but to pay their fraudulent company to release the hold on my registration.
