Type of a scam Phishing

Hey BBB….

I got a creepy ‘phishing’ email two weeks back….that landed in my Junk folder.

It was sent from ‘a lawyer’ to let me know ‘my wife’ (I’m not married) is serving me with ‘divorce papers’….and to view the documents….click this link….and a web address was provided….with the ‘Lawyer’s Law Firm” and address listed.

It looked pretty official….and if I WAS married…I might not have been able to control my curiosity and I may have actually clicked that link… just to see what this ‘lawyer’ was talking about.

I took this ‘screen cap’ of this suspicious email (attached) and I forwarded it to our IT department and our news department investigative reporters before deleting the email. I work at a ** *** *** *** ** *** and the potential scammer sent his email to my work email address.

I Googled the law firm the person said he was representing, and it came up with:

Address: 299 Park Ave, New York, NY 10171

Phone: (212) 894-7200

Just wanted to give you a ‘heads up’….in case any others have reported falling for this obvious click-bait ‘phishing’ scam.
