Type of a scam Credit Cards
This group uses robocalls to get personal information. The call pretending to be from Visa/Mastecard and want to lower interest rates. They refuse to give any information about the company and are relentless about getting as much personal information as they can, ie. cc numbers, DOB, SS numbers, etc. The frequently change their numbers and will call up for five or 6 times per day. I am on the Do Not Call List.
Type of a scam Phishing
I received a call on Monday from a person who said they were from Visa and Mastercard and since I had a great credit rating they were offering me a lower interest rate. They said that they just needed to verify some information and started by asking me for the expiry date of my credit cards. I said "if you know me and you know my credit rating then you would have all of my information so I know this is a scam" then they hung up . Visa and mastercard are two separate companies who operate independently. I knew it was a scam just from that also, the "Unknown Caller" in my call display was a huge hint.
