I received a phone call today from someone pretending to be from (Amazon) informing me that my identity had been compromised by someone who was trying to purchase an IPHONE 12 for $699. They instructed me to go to my computer and they would assist me. I told them that I was at work and could not access a computer. I asked for a return phone number even though caller ID listed one. Basically, they insisted they could call me back when I got off of work. I told them Saturday would be better for me. Afterwards, I checked the ScamPulse.com website and found similar incidents. I will BLOCK their phone numbers.

reply-to: ** to: ** date: Mar 3, 2021, 3:14 PM

subject: ** – Your Order Notification

mailed-by: ** signed-by: ** The message was from a fake Amazon advising of a computer order from me, encouraging me to press a yellow button if I had any questions with the order. Also had a place for me to click to uninscribe. I assume both actions would have been a trap for me. See the file attached for a copy of the email. I looked at it, but I did not respond to it. I do have an account with Amazon using the email dress it was sent to, but I rarely use it, and not lately. I usually use an Amazon account under a different email address.

Girl asked if I made a purchase in the last 24 hours $79 and change. I said no. She then asked for my name which I gave her. Then she said repeated my postal code (which I never gave to her)how did she know that??? She said OK what is your 1st four digits on your visa and I will credit your account. I told her the visas have all the same 1st four numbers and she should know that. She then hung up!!

I could hear a guy talking loudly in background on another call. Both had East Indian accents.

I was called by a robocall telling me my Amazon account had a charge of $299 from a Columbia access and if I wanted to confirm or deny the charge I was to press 1. I pressed 1 and was sent to a man with a Hindu accent who told me I needed to download and install the "quicksupport" app (the full app title is "TeamViewer Quick Support"). The Google Play description just says "it’s never been easier to troubleshoot devices." I installed the app and when I checked the app’s description, I found it would allow my phone to be remotely controlled and I immediately uninstalled it.

I did not look to see if there were any "safeguards" as to who could controll my phone. I didn’t need to. I will allow NO ONE but myself to access my phone except a reputable company like Best Buy or Consumer Cellular.

I received a call from a purported Amazon security specialist referencing a suspicious $700.00 purchase on my Amazon account. She identified herself as Gloria Castoren. She then e-mailed me some credentials to verify her legitimacy. After receiving those, she advised me to go the app store and download the Any Desk app, and then the Cash app. Using those apps we went through a series of transactions where money was sent and returned. She then advised me to enter a Pin# that actually was a dollar amount. That amount was removed from my account, the person suddenly hung up. E-mails that were sent were erased remotely. A person at giving his name as David at ###-###-#### said that I would need to download a patch to repair my amazon account and be credited the $300.00 plus charge to my visa card. I told him that I didn’t have a visa card. He said. "Oh, your mastercard." He directed me to type in something I don’t remember and an app appeared on my computer. He told me to click on the app so that it could clear up my amazon account. When I clicked on the app, he had access to my computer and started typing on it. I told him that I had not given him permission to access my computer. He said that he wasn’t accessing my computer, the app was. I asked to speak with a manager. I man giving his name as Alex W******* came on the phone and said that they were not accessing my computer. I told him that my son is a tech with the government at which time they hung up.

Stated I had been charged $299 for an unidentified object – item number 7073.

Stated to press 1 if I had purchased or to hang up and call back at 850-409-7359.

I hung up and checked my Amazon account.

There are no public phone numbers available and their item numbers are about 15 digits long.

Additionally, I had no items for the amount stated.

I believe the $299 was high enough for many people to be concerned enough to call.

I received an automated message saying someone tried to buy an iPhone X on my account and that it appeared to be a fraudulent charged. Said to press 1 to speak to someone in customer service. The person said “how can I help you?” I said “you called me.” He then said I was called because of the fraudulent iPhone purchase and I had to do something to cancel it because if I don’t the money will just be gone. I explained it seems very strange to me because I didn’t see a purchase on my account at all or on my credit card. He said it wouldn’t show up because it’s a fraudulent order. It also didn’t make sense to me because Amazon is typically very generous about refunds. I asked him if this was a scam. He said it wasn’t and I had to cancel the purchase before I lost my money. This obviously didn’t make sense because how can I cancel a purchase that he just told me I wouldn’t be able to see on my account. He asked if I have a computer I can go to to cancel the order. I said yeah and then I asked again if this is a scam. He asked me to go to my computer again. Receiving phone calls every 15 minutes. The calls either have a recording that says "its mollie from amazon. an unusual charge has been made to our amazon account and to press 1 to be connected to an amazon rep." The calls can also have a live person on the line with a heavy middle eastern accent. Very aggressive and very harassing. We hang up and the caller calls right back always using a ************ number. The XXXX alternates on every call. At one point, the name Susan ******* came up on the caller ID. We verified on both amazon and our credit card used by amazon have not been charged.

Received an email from Amazon thinking it was for my son I opened it since my husband and I don’t use internet to order. It was for my husband showing he had ordered a New Apple iPhone 12 ProMax (128GB, Graphite) cost including S&H was 899.99. It was to be delivered to 1015 Virginia Blvd., Austin, Texas 77010 on Jan. 15th. My husband uses a Tracfone. The order # on the invoice was AM51929488NOVE and it was hi-lited for the customer service # if any questions or concerns 866-271-1129. I checked this number out to see if it was legit and it showed scam alert, but it said if you received a call. We received an email with customer service #. Their was no info in the email about payment. Just wanted to make sure you were aware of this. Not real good at using the internet

It says, on our answering machine, that if we want our Amazon order to be shipped, called 3097050963 which is an Illinois area code. I know that Amazon does not operate this way. We have not answered. We know this is fraud. We have not been victimized. We are submitting this to let you know of this activity going on.

Message left on my phone stating there was a suspicious application to open an amazon account in my name and it was urgent for me to respond by calling 7262007470. I called and was told by”Jack Wilson”…. an obviously Indian man with a heavy accent….that he needed to immediately have my permission to close an account that was attempted to be opened by a man in Ohio, for the purpose of purchasing an IPhone. When I asked who and what are you and how to I know you are legitimate? He became agitated and stated that he did not want to lose his job by doing anything wrong….and all he was doing was trying to help me to not be scammed by the man in Ohio. I told him I would call Amazon myself to confirm any issue with my account…..he was more frustrated and insisted he was the only one who could help me. I told him I would not talk to him anymore and I started to hang up when he said he would be calling me back. Sure enough he called me back and I told him to leave me alone and that he was a scammer and a fraud and he said I am connecting you with my supervisor to which I hung up and blocked his number. I then contacted Amazon customer service for the second time, and was told that many customers have been calling with the exact same complaint and Amazon’s fraud department is working on solving the issue.

He could not identify the credit card that had been used for the purchase, but that it was my Amazon account.

He ask me to log in and out of my Amazon account; what type of computer was I on and the type of browser I was using. He was directing me to open it up again and that it should say ‘Hello Steven’.

He said the phone was bought for (or by) Steven Smith.

I was attempting to register a roku device with Amazon.com/mytv site. I received a message that I had to do this by phone and provided a number to call. When contacting this number I was told by a gal, that did not speak clear English, my Amazon account had been compromised and a verification of the my account needed to be done. I was passed to a supervisor Michael Lou and he explained a verification could be done by making a purchase of Google play cards in an identified amount to verify my information and block the others. When I returned to the conversation I was then passed on to verification and they wanted to reimburse what I had spent but could only transfer $1000 to my account vs $400 and would i agree to pay the $600 back. I was asked by David Eon to then go and purchase 3 more Google play cards to cover the $600 amount back. So I ended up contacting Amazon to inquire as to my account being hacked and learned I was jilted out of $400 because they have you read the codes to verify they were purchased. Needless to say I am angry about this. I hope Amazon makes changes to the mytv registration process to be sure this doesn’t happen again.

However they were unable to cancel the order without me going to an Amazon/CVS or Walgreens to obtain three Ebay cards in the amount of $100 each. Call back to provide the Ebay card information and then they could cancel the order. Otherwise, I would receive a bill for the $1,799.95 purchase. Daniel –

Type of a scam Online Purchase

The scam was a phone call from "Amazon" claiming my account had fraudulent charges. The initial call was a automated call from "Molly" claiming there was a $729 charge on my account made in Dayton, Ohio. You are asked to press 1 to get to an operator. When I got to the operator, several of them were able to initially confirm my identity and address, though it was broken up and missing some important information. Upon further probing, they asked me to be polite and to be quiet (um, what?!). I knew going it, it was a scam. I pretended to be concerned and continued on the call with them. They indicated it would need to be escalated to their fraud team (which is who I thought I was already talking to). From there I was hung up on. Following that call, I called Amazon myself and confirmed my account HAD NOT been hacked, charged, or any pending charges. They also confirmed Amazon will NEVER call or email you outside of a claim that was initiated by a customer (or a confirmation of orders). I also updated my Amazon password and log-in information just to be safe. The scammer called again and I spoke to "Alex Martin" who sold me the same story, but now the amount had went from $729 up to $1200 in a matter of 10 minutes. I told Mr. Martin that I had spoken to Amazon and there were no charges and I had contacted the authorities. I told him I knew it was a scam and it needed to stop. He asked me if I would "count him out" of the scam if I talked with the police. I had one final call that I entertained- they were able to assure me they would help me "fix" my issue. Adam (who was unsure of his name initially) was who I talked with this time, was certain he could assist me. When I expressed concern, he let me know I shouldn’t worry…he would be able to help me. I continued to press that I was uncomfortable and had actually called Amazon to confirm my account was safe. He indicated that he was from the security department and who I talked with was customer care, and it was all completely safe. He pressed on that he would help my by just logging into my phone or computer to screen share with me to solve the problem. When I finally came clean to him that I would not be screen sharing as I knew it was a scam, he hung up on me. I am worried people will ultimately give out their log-in information and actually get scammed. Overall they have called us at least 20 times in the last 24 hours.

I am probably not the only person contacted in the last two days but there is a phone scam taking place with Amazon. I received a phone call yesterday from 848-212-8840 CF MALCHIKZER and today from 323-567-5200 CARETEX. Basically the scam runs this way—recorded message stating that Amazon had charged my account $779.00. If you did not make this purchase press 1. Caught unaware and panicky I pressed 1 and was transferred to a person – supposedly an account rep. He had my name and phone number already. Wanted to know what I wanted, naively I told him that I was transferred to his number automatically.(bells should have gone off but didn’t) He wanted to know what the problem was and of course I told him a charge that I didn’t make was going to go thru and charge my bank account. He said he needed additional info… did I use Amazon from my laptop or phone. Brain still in panic mode …laptop. Okay we will need to get more info about your computer… and he would then help me to cancel the order and prevent from happening again. But before he could issue me a refund of the $779 he would need my banking info…then my brain cleared and I stopped him in mid-sentence asking how he could refund $779 when my bank account never had $779 in it to begin with and I only shop on line with a gift card that I purchase for the exact amount of my order. He hung up. I called the number and it was not in service. I then blocked the number. This morning I got another call from CARETEX with the same recorded message.

Please let your people know about the scam. Holiday shopping time is beginning in earnest and many people might answer the phone in the midst of doing something else and not recognize it for what it was as I almost fell for it. If your payment method is not sufficient Amazon sends an email asking for a new method. I know this because I forgot to turn on my credit card once and my payment was declined for the purchase. Calmer I remembered this and he hung up. I guess they will constantly change their phone numbers but I will keep blocking their calls ??

A message was on my phone from a caller with the phone #176-025-8401 saying to call 855-328-2411 that I owed $7.00 postage for something ordered. When I called the # he said it was a postage due for an Amazon order for the amount of $987.00. I told him that I was a Prime customer, and that is when he told me that my account was hacked. I was scared that he was a scam also so he gave me the EIN # to look up from Seattle WA to type in #911646860. When I did that, it did show that it was from Amazon. So I felt that someone has hacked my account. So he had me do some steps to get to the security server and that gave me the #’s 275 709 293 that brought me to a screen that would let them checked my account. That is when I got on my cell phone and called Cody’s computer service that I have that checks my computer for scams at all times and that’s when I was told that it was a scam, that Amazon would not ever call a customer. I got back on the phone and informed him that I thought it was a scam and he said that be aware that I would have the $987.00 on my Amazon bill.

On 10/26/2020 at approximately 2:30pm I attempted to log in to my Amazon account. The log in page did not appear suspicious in any way. I entered my email address as I normally do and when I attempted to enter my password I received a message that my Amazon account had been blocked due to a suspicious purchase on my account. The message provided me with the following number to call to have my Amazon account unblocked, (833)528-0900. I called the number and a man with a heavy foreign accent told me that at 2:00am on Monday evening someone attempted to purchase an iPhoneX on my account. He directed me to hold down two keys on my computer, the control key and the letter "r" key. I did this and then he directed me to enter a string of letters. After entering a few letters I became suspicious and hung up on him. My grown kids advised me to turn off my computer and change my Amazon email address and password. They said that this scammer was trying to get me to allow remote access to my computer. Afterward, I discovered that the number I called was not associated with Amazon customer service in any way. I was fortunate not to lose any money or allow remote access to my computer, however, I was frighteningly close to falling for this scam. Please be careful.

888-670-0832 I spoke to a lady called *****  and when she couldn’t help me I

requested to speak to a manager she transfered me to a Manager named *******.

I called to update my credit card information because it had expired. Richard told me because my account was suspended I needed to purchase a Google Play card with $100.00 to activate my account and to call them back. I quickly went and purchase the card, called him to activate my account. He took down all the information on my card and imputed the information into the computer. He then told me that the money was collected but for some reason something wrong with the card, it shows a $100.00 credit with Amazon, but the system did not update. In order to fix the problem he told me I need to get another card with $100.00 to complete the transaction.

I told him that there was no way I would that. He told me if I didn’t I would lose the money and that my account would be permanently closed. I told him I would report him to Corporate. He told me go ahead you will not hear them for 4-6 months. He hung up on me. …. About 5 minutes later he called me from

805-335-6586 and said he would credit my account and gave me a reference number

#***********. He asked me for the last 4 digits of my debit card number to credit my account. He said it would credit right away but it didn’t.

I am so upset with myself for allowing him to play me like this….. I honestly thought I was talking to Amazon Mgr.

This scam starts with a vehicle for sale well below market price, where the seller used a personal tragedy (husbands death) to try and explain why they were selling it so cheap. They just moved out of state so they are using Amazon to help sell the vehicle. They provided a document (PDF) with lots of Amazon logo’s and copyright material and the title was "Amazon Purchase Protection" with a case "ID". Then this is where the scam became very clear. The payment is made "secure" buy purchasing Amazon gift cards with cash in $500 increments. No credit or debit cards are allowed to avoid making any "mistakes". Then you call their 800# for Amazon Support (888-273-8645) to "confirm" your payment. Then… "Upon payment verification, Amazon starts the shipping process. Amazon verifies that the buyer receives the item. The inspection period begins once the item is delivered.

To protect you against the risk of liability, Amazon holds the buyer’s funds pursuant to the terms of the Amazon Purchase Protection Service Policy, and any other agreement entered between Amazon and its customers. When payment is received, it will be verified and secured into a non-interest bearing trust account. After payment is secured, Amazon ships the item to the buyer.

Amazon’s Payment Guarantee Policy is a unique benefit that offers you protection from unwarranted refunds, allowing you to accept more high risk orders. For all eligible transactions, we will completely reimburse you for any refunds resulting from claims of unauthorized purchases and non-receipt of goods."

But once they have your gift card #’s the deal is done and you are out of your money. There is no car and never was one.

I contacted who I thought was Amazon by phone about a product I was interested in purchasing. I called the number 866-281-0333. As a was speaking to the "Amazon" representative another person came on the line and said that were were on a three way call with Amazon. That person identified himself as a Mr. David D. Miller and offered to sell me a security system for my computer. I told him no but somehow he gained access to my computer anyway. He kept asking me if I did any online banking and what type of websites I liked to visit. I He put these little green locks all over my desktop and now I can no longer use my computer. They are now calling me and threatening legal action if I don’t pay them $1500 for the software they installed on my computer.

This morning I received an e-mail from Amazon thanking me for purchasing an expensive chandelier with a delivery address in England.

I hit reply and sent them a return e mail telling them that I had not purchased anything from Amazon. Upon closer examination I saw there was a special button to click if this was not my order. I decided NOT to press the button and just figured it was some kind of a scam.

Type of a scam Online Purchase

An online buyer posted a vehicle for sale using Amazon. Amazon’s instructions and the buyer informed us that after we purchase and send proof of purchase of the 3 iTunes cards at 500.00 each that they would ship the vehicle to our home at the buyers expense.

After we sent proof of purchase, they now say that we have to pony up an additional 1000.00 to ship the vehicle. This was not part of the original deal, so we asked to cancel the deal since the shipment is advertised as at the buyer’s expense, and now it has changed. Amazon is now saying that we will lose 65% of the 1500.00 if we cancel.

This is a pure rip off, and we want all of our money back.
