Tuesday and last Thursday we received an automated telephone call that stated it was the Duke Energy billing department.
It went on to state that there was an unpaid balance on our account and to call (800) 737-4827 to pay or our power would be cut off in 30 minutes.
The telephone number that was captured by our caller ID was (980) 580-5094.
If you confront them or ask them questions on the phone they hang up.

IT WAS AN AUTOMATED LINE "ROBO CALL" TELLING ME THAT MY POWER WAS GOING TO BE DISCONNECTED IN THE NEXT 30 MINUTES IF I DIDN’T CALL SOME 1-844- NUMBER I DIDN’T GET THE REST OF THE NUMBER BC… (A) I DON’T HAVE ANY SERVICE IN MY NAME AND… (B) I KNEW IT WAS A SCAM TO BEGIN WITH…. AND (C) MY SISTER WHOM I LIVE WITH AND HER HUSBAND ALWAYS PAY THEIR BILLS BEFORE THEY’RE DUE AND THEY WOULDN’T HAVE PUT ME ON THEIR ACCT ANYWAYS BC IT WASN’T PLANNED FOR ME TO EVEN LIVE HERE!!! SOOOOOOOOO PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO THE NUMBER(S) THAT CALL BC IT SHOWED UP AS A "LOCAL NUMBER."

Phone call claiming to be Duke Energy and to inform me I was getting ready to have my power disconnected. After I gave the service address of my home, the caller said I had only 30 minutes to make a payment or my power would be shut off. He also claimed that a technician had already been dispatched and my time was running out.I believe it was a robo call that connected to a live person when I answered my cell phone.

I have received several text messages recently that say my electric bill is past due and scheduled to be cut off. I have contacted the electric company and they told me these are scams. This is a scam to get information – I don’t use Duke for energy and there is no bill.
Rec’d the same message yesterday from 856-284-0761– same message.
