Type of a scam Bank/Credit Card Company Imposter Scam

I received a physical mail saying it was a final notice for lower interest rate on my student loan.

I called the number and a gentleman took down my name, number and email saying a representative would call me, due to the high volume of calls. 45 minutes later a gentleman named Cameron (SVP of this company) returns my call saying i “qualified.” His “application” involved me answering questions. He asked where i work, my annual salary, # of people in my family/my little brothers age, and how much i paid per month off of my loan. He collected my email along with my parents email. He wanted to collect an address of mine that was not affiliated with my loan account. The conversation ended because i did not know my email affiliated with FedLoan. He asked me to call him back when i collected the information.

Long story short, this letter i received in the mail did not show a company name or address. I should’ve known but the letter was very persuasive. I worry for students that do not catch this scam. If i were to be making payments to this guy or business, who knows if it would’ve ever been credited to my federal loan balance.
