Received a text message stating that FedEx was changing a scheduled delivery time for a fake order number. Then provides a link to click to confirm the change.

I had just ordered something being shipped via FedEx so I clicked the link and when I opened the link it brought me to a page stating there was a Best Buy prize being offered for every 10 customers. I immediately clicked out of the website.

I got a call from this number at 7:51pm. I was putting my toddler to bed and did not initially answer the call, but a message was left. I listened to the voicemail, and they claimed to be from Fedex Ground and stated that they were unable to deliver a package due to me today, and that they needed to verify my address, followed by a reference number that I could use to call them back with. I thought it was strange, because Fedex has delivered to me many times in the past and has never called me asking for address verification, let alone at almost 8pm! Not to mention, FedEx uses tracking numbers, not reference numbers. So, I Googled the phone number. There I found a multitude of people all saying they’d received the exact same call from that exact same number, and that they’d called their local FedEx offices to verify the call only to be told that there were no such calls made to these individuals, and nothing under the reference numbers we’ve all been given.

Type of a scam Sweepstakes/Lottery/Prizes

A man calling himself Kenny Rogers contacted me through messenger using a private phone number out of Canada. He said I was chosen as a fan to win a gift of 20,000.00 which he would be sending me. Before it arrived I was contacted by supposively Fedex that they will send gift from Kenny Rogers as soon as I pay shipping fees of $50. Then then wanted me to get a Walmart $50 giftcard and take pic of it and send to them at Fedex. I tried calling Fedex to see if this was true but could not get through to them cause they said I needed to have confirmation number or tag number then they could help me? Tried to get numbers from Kenny but he said he called them and that Fedex will give it to me. They or Kenny never did so I called them on it but only tried to send video of a supposed winner opening his package with money in it. Still kept pressing me to pay $50 then gift of $20,000.00 will be sent to me. So, beware of a suppose of Celebrity contacting you.

Total money lost $4.95

Type of a scam Sweepstakes/Lottery/Prizes

Calling FedEx 800# at 1-800-463-3339 and dialed 1-800-463-3393 and they are giving away free gift cards for a $4.95 shipping and handling fee. They asked all kinds of information and when you hang up they call back repeatedly at +10000000000 number saying they already charged your card. (Thinking that this company is FedEx and the last two numbers are inverted. Reported this to the bank to let them know that this is unauthorized. Do NOT call 1-800-463-3393. It’s not FedEx.
