I received a letter in the mail today (my husband got the same letter).Titled UI finding, talking about getting unemployment benefits. Said we could get the benefits on a debit card or directly into a checking account. I heard about this scam on WGN radio. Just did not know exactly what to do about it.

Type of a scam Phishing

My husband got a debit card and letter in the mail supposedly from IDES. We are seniors and retired and have not submitted an application for benefits. The card and letter said the benefits would be served by Key Bank, and if we had questions we should call 866-295-2955 or go to their website, which is key2benefits.com. We heard this was a scam, so we tried to report it to the IDES fraud line and the local employment office, but we were never able to get anyone to answer the phone or call us back. We called the local Better Business Bureau office and reported it. They suggested we make sure we checked our credit and monitored our accounts.

I received a letter and a debit card in the mail from IDES – Illinois Department of Employment Security. I am 79 years old and did not apply for unemployment benefits. I did not activate the card, and tried to report it to their fraud number and the local office, but could not get anyone on the phone.
