I received a random text for a job interview. It said "(My Name) this is the HR Dept with Liberty, we received your resume & want to interview you by phone this Thurs at 9:30, 11:30 or 1:30. Which one works best for you?"

I responded with a time that would work and they replied with the following links "https://us02web.zoom.us/j/84763076707" for the interview link and "https://form.jotform.com/210474085714151" for a candidate information sheet. I did not fill out these forms but asked what the job title of the position was and what the full name of the company was so I could confirm the position on the companies website.

They stated that they had several positions to fill including Supervisor, Manager and Team Member but did not provide the full company name. When I asked for the full company name again…..Crickets. Beware all text job interview offers, especially generic ones that don’t provide the job title and full company name. The only reason I even responded is that I have applied to some jobs and am waiting on responses.

Gave me a “case number” to reference when I called back. Said they were filing to sue in a county I haven’t lived in in years. We’re calling to “serve notice papers to appear in court”. Wouldn’t give me any information about any debt without my social security number and date of birth. Even went as far as to call my father

The company called my grandma and told her that there was a warrant out for my arrest and I was about to go to jail if she did not pay the amount in full right away. She told them that they needed to contact me but they became very aggressive and kept pressuring her to pay.

I received a call on 3/11/19 stating that if I didn’t settle a payday loan immediately I would be taken to court for fraud and delinquency that day. They also apparently called family members. The man who called referred to himself as a “locator” When I called back, there was no company name given , someone answered with hello. I was connected to Hayley Adams who told me my acct. was locked for pending litigation and she could only open the file if I agreed to pay 600.00 that day. I told her I didn’t know if I could but would try. She said she had to get authorization to check my file. She came back to the phone ( after allegedly speaking with the company attorney in an adjacent department)and said she could stop the legal action if I paid. I agreed to pay 3 installments of 200.00 with the first withdrawal to come out of my credit card on 3/15/19. She said the withdrawal would be under the name of Universal. She said it had to be a credit card so it was a “secure bond”. I asked for documentation and she said she couldn’t give it to me but would email me a confirmation number after each payment and then email me the final paperwork declaring my status as paid. She did not ask me for my email address. She said people use their letterhead fraudently so they don’t send any paperwork to people and besides the law doesn’t require them to send paperwork. When I looked up the phone number or 855 203 6294 , I saw it listed many times as a scam number. I also found the name Liberty in the scam tracker with the BBB. I contacted my credit card company and they blocked all future withdrawal on that account and closed it. I called the Consumer Protection Agencyof the federal govt. I filed a report with local AG office and had to contact an attorney to see if my agreeing to them withdrawing money is legally binding. If these people call you, hang up or record the phone call and file a report. Even though they are threatening and harassing you, do not be afraid as I was and give in to their demands. Luckily, I was able to think clearly and halt their plan before they took my money.

I received a call from Kayla 512-985-9915 stating that she was with my county and was putting out a warrant for my location. She then told me I needed to call 855-219-9890. However, while I was on the phone with her, she never asked me for my address which was the original reason why she was supposedly putting out the warrant. I called the 855 number and they said I had defaulted on a payday loan and I needed to pay it off or I was going to be sued. They told me the company name was Liberty but they didn’t have a website or address they could give me. They also said they couldn’t send me any documents until I paid in full. I ended up speaking to a different 3rd party collection agency who originally had my debt. They said Liberty is a scam and to cancel any cards I gave them.
