Initial means of contact Social media (e.g., Facebook)

I received this friendship request, and soon after this invitation to present at a “conference” in Canada this May, 2021. It never felt legitimate to me. I said no thank you. Then I got a link to pay $299.00 to present on-line. I tuned in with intuition, and on-line research, and I believe this to be a totally fraudulent scam, that does not even present as realistic or authentic in any way, upon my review. I agree with the individual here, who states that it is a scam to get money from “presenters” who end up only looted at best for something non-existent! The Facebook Fan page

Remember, some of the reports here, contrary, may simply be people lying. Thanks “buyer beware!

Yet as the Facebook presence began, only in September 2020, and this appears to be a known “phishing scam,” I will block the fakey profile with no ream authentic human photo representing it! And will report them, and warn my 3300 or so friends!

Apparently Psychologists receive boatloads of such phishing scams! Thank you.

“Dear …

Thanks for accepting my connection.

We want to welcome you as a speaker at the forthcoming conference on “Premier Annual Summit on Positive Psychiatry and Mental Health ” which is scheduled on May 20-21, 2021 in Toronto ,Canada You’ll be joining many delegates gathering, and meet partners from around the world while we present, tune in to and talk about the latest advancements in the respective field.

Thanks and Regards,
Durga Prasad”

While I could be wrong, in my conclusions, I see more red flags to distrust this whole “organization.” It feels illegitimate to me.

I got a very good opportunity to present my talk as a speaker at STAR Conferences. I believe their accomplishments are the results of the combined effort of each individual.” They are very humble with our queries.

Adriana – Dec 18, 2020

I have been to many other events (other organization) and they charge high fees, that doesn’t mean they are scammers, they are trying the best to provide the platform for Researches like us but STAR conferences, charges the minimal fee and I also appreciate that they also have Grants for Best Speaker. I am extremely happy to get nominated for the grants.

Hi, I was one of the invited speaker of Robotics & Artificial Intelligence conference : https://www.starconferences.org/pastConference/rai2018/
And the event was very well organized. Onsite Organizer was also very cooperative. This time also I received an invitation from STAR Conferences, and the Event Manager is very supportive, they reply back to the queries immediately. When I came across these allegations, I thought of sharing my wonderful experience with STAR Conferences. And I am excited to be a part of STAR Conferences again.

They just approached me. I have a PhD, and I’m a specialist in my field, but they invited me to be a speaker in a completely unrelated branch of psychology. I don’t want to sound unfair, but I thought, “What fool would invite someone as a speaker for a topic in which they are unqualified?”

That’s why I’m here on a scam review site. I’ll treat them as scammers.

Lydia – Aug 12, 2020

I have been approached by them to invite me as an speaker and asking for almost 2000$. They keep insisting. Furthermore if you look into their pngage you can see the amount of conferences that they are suppose to be hosting, I believe it is not plausible, although I can´t confirm this is a scam, it sure seems like it.

Edwin – Mar 06, 2020

Have been approached over linked in by one of their “Special Event Specialists”… A single look at their website should make it evident to anyone in the scientific community that this a fake you should stay away from, given none of the links work, the profiles look made up, the images poorly formatted, and there is no media coverage of any of the prior “starconferences”.

  2. In October of 2021, I received a message on LinkedIn from an employee at STAR Conferences. They invited me to present at an addiction conference in London, UK, July 21-22, 2022. I was so excited as I’ve never presented internationally, and immediately submitted my abstract. A few months later, I got a message confirming my abstract had been approved. But recently, I started to wonder if this whole thing is a scam…

    Let me share why:

I received my confirmation of my session in March 2022 and paid the conference registration. In my excitement to present at an international conference, I shared the joyous news right here on LinkedIn. In May 22, STAR Conferences reached about the possibility of moving the conference in October on account of COVID-19. I checked my calendar, blocked the dates, and requested they inform me if and when this change occurs. I was informed that a decision would be make in 24 hours….that was on May 24, 2022! To date, I have still not received any communications about the move of the conference or my request for a refund for the registration fee. In fact, TODAY, is when I was originally supposed to be presenting in London! smh

I feel as though I’ve given plenty of opportunities for this situation to be resolved and will now seek support from my bank to recoup the registration fee.

If you have been contacted by STAR Conferences, or are thinking about submitting a proposal to them, I urge you to be cautious. This is a story of my personal experience with what appears to be a conference scam. I hope by sharing my story, it will help someone else. It never crossed my mind to be concerned about the conference being real. I mean heck, they reached out to me on LinkedIn!!! I consider this space a professional world, protected from schemes or tricks. This experience has been valuable, as I will now have a new eye for evaluating future speaking engagements.

I also hope this post, inspires others who have had a similar experience, to share your story with others! We’ve got to help each other identify companies with questionable operating practices.
