Received a call supposedly from a UPS driver who said he was trying to deliver a package to me and the PO Box# had been speared. I didn’t think about UPS not delivering to PO Boxes. He called back and said he needed to verify my Credit Card # and the Billing Address I use for it. I asked how he got that info and he said his supervisor called the business sending the bill. I told him I wanted his supervisor’s contact info, because I knew businesses wouldn’t do that.

I then called and cancelled my Credit Card.

I was contacted to answer 5 questions about recent ups delivery. I answered the questions and received a reward message for my participation of an I Pad. I had to pay $19.63 for shipping and handling. After I added my correct debit card information I got a message that my card was not accepted and was incorrect. I was confused that I was not receiving the computer after I entered the number again. Then the company said the I timed out my information. My bank called and asked about the transaction and I told the bank the same information. The bank said it was probably a scam.

This call was received at 12:28 pm PST (perhaps when regular staff are most likely away from workstation for lunch and perhaps someone filling in to answer the telephone may unknowingly provide information requested).

RECORDING:

“This is an important message from UPS. If this is the Accounts Payable Department, please press “1”.

If this is not the Accounts Payable Department, please transfer this call to Accounts Payable.

If no response is received, this message will repeat”.

After no response to the call, the message repeated as indicated.

I terminated the call, based on the fact that it was a recording and most likely a scam.

A scam from Chinese. He told you that you sent a package to China mainland which contains credit cards that are not declared. Customs wants you. He told you to make self report to the police by a "ridiculous" through connection. I think it is funny that why a so-called UPS company will have the phone to a random police station in China mainland so I directly hanged it up. After that, I tried to recall the phone but it told me it’s an empty number, 614-247-2914.

Said he was from UPS trying to deliver an unclaimed package from PCH. I asked what I won and he said a 5.1 million dollar check and a Mercedes Benz. I then asked him “who am I, and what’s my address”. He asked why I was asking, I responded because I want to make sure this isn’t a scam. He spouted back with several questions why I would even ask. I explained, if I won a prize, UPS should have my name and address. I told him I would be reporting this number as a scam then he hung up on me.

I was left multiple phone messages to my home phone saying we have a perishable package that needs to be picked up. The caller id said united parcel service. Person called on multiple days and knew our name. No ups slip was left at our home. They left a different number to call back which was 262-7**-***7. Numbers were disconnected. Called UPS and they said it was a scam and had no record of a package delivery for our address.

Indian man calls numerous times a day, very rude. First he said he was sending back, wrist braces and it was okayed by my Dr. I have refused numerous times and declined calls but they constantly call back and get argumentative. My co-worker took one call and he told her he was with UPS and was trying to send her new Medicare card and it would be delivered at 3pm today. Co-worker threatened him with filing a complaint and he was very rude to her. She hung up and he called back 4 times in 2 minutes.

I received a call from a male at the above listed number stating he was UPS and that he had a package and wanted to confirm my apartment number, once he stated the number I confirmed with a “yes” and as I thought he needed a signature I let him know I was at the gym. He said thank you and hat was the end. As I was in the middle of working out and initially not suspicious, I immediately called the number back numerous times blocking my number and again without blocking and it appears to be a fax number.

A private number called, wich I normally don’t answer, but I’m expecting a call from a local law enforcement agency, and thought they may block their number.

The caller claimed to be a UPS delivery driver, claiming to have a delivery for me, and asked when I plan to be home. I didn’t offer a time, and he then asked if I’m expecting a delivery. I said no, to which he claimed to have a package for me from Publisher’s Cearinghouse, which immediately cued me in to the fact that he was phishing for info, so I immediately hung up.

After hanging up, I thought it strangely coincidental that the caller waited until I maybe 2 minutes after I left my house for work this morning. Now, I’m wondering if the scammer lives in my neighbohood.

I asked what the package was, and he said it was a check from Publisher’s Clearing House. I then hung up. The number he called from showed up as Unknown.

They claimed to be notifying me that my Aunt had sent me a package that may be arriving by UPS or standard mail. They gave a tracking number, but the invoice link led to the tracking number again. They named my Aunt by her Facebook name. My Aunt has remarried without changing her Facebook name. I asked if she sent a package, she said no.

The caller asked to speak with an individual. I asked what the call was in reference to, he stated it was regarding a problem with a package delivery. I asked what company he was with he stated UPS. I asked who the sender was and he stated Bank of America. I stated that if there really was a problem then Bank of America should contact the individual. He asked if the person mentioned worked for our business and stated I was unwilling to share any information. He asked if he could confirm our address. I stated this sounded like fraud and I would not share any information. I wrote the phone number down, 313-242-2000 and attempted to call the number using a different number and received the recorded message "this is not a valid number, please try again".

I received a phone call from UPS asking if I would be home in the next 30 minutes for a package delivery that needed a signature. I said "Yes". I was driving at the time of the call. When I got home I contacted UPS and they said that they do not contact people like this. They did not recognize the number and no delivery arrived.

It has been in our local news that there is a new phone scam in the area and that the caller will ask questions to get you to say yes. I’m concerned that this might be what happened to me.

Type of a scam Sweepstakes/Lottery/Prizes

Received an early morning phonecall that came up as Private Number. He informed me that I had won several million dollars in UPS Christmas promotion. He asked me to write down UPS Delivery Service Christmas promotion, his name Mr. Joe Walsh, a roaming phone number 876 473 9959, a cheque number and a confirmation number. He said all taxes had been paid to the IRS by the company. He asked my age but not my name and he confirmed the number he was calling. He wanted to know if I wanted them to deliver my cheque publicly as in have tv and radio crews at my home or to have it delivered privately. I said privately. He told me I would have my picture taken with the person giving me the cheque so I should dress nice. He then said I needed to travel to a Walmart to send $199 via Western Union to Danielle Donalds Jamaica, Jamaica. He said he would call me while I was driving to make sure I arrived safely. He said I would be reimbursed the $199 when they showed up with my cheque. Throughout the conversation he repeatedly called me sweetheart. I could hear a lot of noise in the background including a rooster crowing. He had a slight Caribbean accent, possibly Jamaican.

I recognized a scam and told him so and that I would be reporting it to local police. He tried another attempt at defending the legitimacy of his call. He said someone from the IRS and ScamPulse.com were right there with him. I hung up. He called back and I did not answer.
